Congratulations to everyone who made
Gingerbread Homes for Animals 2004 a huge success!
We had five fun-filled days of the Gingerbread Homes for
Animals exhibitat the Dana Discovery Center in New York
City’s Central Park. Our opening ceremony included
a thank you to Rational Animal and participating organizations
by Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe and Central Park Conservancy
President Douglas Blonsky. Third graders from P.S. 124
came to the ceremony and the Gingerbread Homes for Animals
official song written by Murray Weinstock called “Recipe
of Love” was sung by all.
The one-of-a-kind edible animal-inspired gingerbread sculptures
made by New York’s Master Pastry Chefs were raffled
off to raise money for The
Picasso Fund to cover veterinary costs for homeless
animals, and Rational Animal, promoting the welfare of
New York’s at-risk animals.
Thanks to all the organizations who held free educational
animal care workshops about caring for dogs, cats, birds,
rabbits, horses, wildlife and more at the Dana Discovery
Center in Central Park!
Gingerbread Homes for Animals Mini-Kits are still available
while supplies last! Make your own gingerbread house for
the holidays – for $20 plus shipping, this kit goes
to a great cause and is sure to spread holiday cheer!
Thanks to all our participating organizations who made
